In October 2010 Newbury Operatic Society performed The Mikado written by Gilbert and Sullivan. We were lucky enough to be the photographers for this wonderful performance in Newbury. Audiences enjoyed a traditional rendition with a few topical jokes thrown in. These including coalition politicans, errant bankers, X Factor references and hints at Katie Price's assets! The Mikado is a mix of wonderful music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W.S Gilbert. Personally I found the humour quite strange though sharp and witty (as are most Gilbert and Sullivan operas).
Being the photographer for a show I had never seen I thought the principles and chorus did a fantastic job, the costumes were breath taking and the singing was outstanding.
